R.I.P. Puppy and hello Boo-boo

R.I.P. "Puppy"

Okay, I know, I know. You really don't have to say it...I know it has been a long time. Eh, what can I say? I'm sure I have an excuse or two as well (or several) and I can apologize now. I've been away awhile, huh? ;P I'm sorry. All better? I'm going to attempt to catch up a bit now and you can forgive me later. ;)

In January we lost our dear little fuzzy family member. Puppy was a great old pal and companion and was so very old in doggy years. Always a great sport, he traveled with us, played with us, and kept many a cold tootsie warm at night and will be missed always. Thank you for your service and companionship. We love you.

Losing Puppy was really hard on everyone, Lee especially. Puppy was about 19 years old and Lee had him for 15 or 16 of those years. It was almost like he lost a part of himself and it was really rough.

Around the end of February (and after some considerable cajoling and Adree's part), Lee was looking for another fuzzy friend. He had been trolling some rescue sites and on a whim checked the local Craigslist and a picture of this little guy popped up. Adree happened to see it and spent the rest of the evening bugging Lee to go see him. Unbeknownst to me, that is exactly what he did! While he was out working, Lee took a few minutes to go and see "Klaus" (as he was named before). The people who had him lived in a tiny apartment and had two little kids and really did not have the means to take care of him properly. This little dog immediately took to Lee, loving him, running around his ankles, and Lee fell in love.

Lee sent me a picture of a big-eared fuzz ball behind the wheel of his work van titled "My new assistant tech" and I called him and made him confess. "Boo-boo" was a baby, born the previous Halloween and was only 4 months old. His previous family had not been able to get his shots or anything and had two very tiny kids. Chihuahuas are such fantastic dogs, loving and loyal, but also a bit fragile, as they are so little and are really suited to families with older kids or adults. The family before received him as a Christmas present and had named him Klaus, but he is so cute and sweet and such a love, Lee and I decided Boo-boo (which is such a cute name and because he was born on Halloween) was much more suitable. Boo-boo seems to love it! Lee does a great Yogi Bear impression and only has to call "Boo-boo, how about a pic-i-nic basket?" and he comes running!

Lee completely surprised the kids!

The kids love him soooo much! (Well, Drake is a bit standoffish) Boo-boo loves them too! The kids love to take him for walks and play fetch with him and carry him around like a baby. Boo-boo sure seems to love me too...I've never had a dog be sooooo excited for me to come in the door at night! He fall all over himself and whimpers to be picked up and kisses and flops over so I can cuddle him. I love that he is crate-trained, but ends up snuggling with us in bed most nights anyway....eh, such is life. ;) Thank you Adree for being such a pest and helping us find another fuzzball to love! <3
